This was amazing. Took about 10-15 minutes to open up.

Nose of fresh dark red and black fruits, soft and deep earth, tree bark and twigs. The fruits turn macerated after some time (something that I have missed for a while now), soft chocolate and dark green shrubbery appears.

On the palate you get an abundance of dark red and black fruits, this pleasurable creaminess to the fruit (not vanilla but more of like the white milkiness you get in a berry smoothie), deep black earth, softly bitter graphite, a touch of asphalt and steeped tea.

Like any young wine, this showed a lot of fun youthfulness but acted mature for its age. There's depth behind the macerated fruit that indicated great structure and hidden layers, waiting to be revealed with time. I hope they will eventually bottle this in 750s, it would be nice to follow this through time.

4/4/2022 8:18:00 AM - I am shocked that this showed so well out of magnum at this point. 18s have taken forever to come around. Would you say this is one of the better 18s you've tried so far?

4/4/2022 11:34:00 AM - Just as shocked as you. It was closed initially on pnp so that worried me. But within 15 minutes, this was beautiful. Indeed one of the good '18s I've had so far, next to the '18 Kinsman Rhad - both completely diff in style though.

Thanks for posting a review of this so early on. When you eventually make it over to Chicago, we'll have to open a GTO. Hope all is well.

4/4/2022 4:38:00 PM - Haha! I was going to ask if Henry brought the GTO from his aspiring collection. I have no doubt he drank over 2/3 of it. I think his handle should be ‘Wine Fish’.
