Tuesday, July 19, 2022 - Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. 70% Zinfandel, 15% Carignane, 12% Petite Sirah and 3% Alicante Bouschet. Sublime nose of red fruits, peach and anise. Medium body with mouth watering acidity. Rich and jammy. Raspberry, plums, pomegranate and pepper on the palate. Exceptional now but this certainly has the structure and fruit to drink well for another decade.

7/20/2022 1:48:00 PM - High praise for this Geyserville …Tom and I sincerely hope you’re right (As someone who fondly remembers my one on one tasting with Paul Draper and his wine dog back circa 1989 & still have 10 bottles of this ‘15 in cellar).

The last time I cracked open one of these was last summer at the end of one of those transcendent NW summer evenings with friends where the previous bottles had been properly aged exquisite Plavac Mali Dingač .
In hindsight it was unfair to chase these with a pop & pour Ridge Zin.
The predominant taste was the signature Ridge “Draper Perfume” albeit with extended air-dried American Oak and in Paul’s description :
“that leads to a gentle extraction of clove, nutmeg, brown sugar aroma and flavors” . A longer decant or better yet a few more years would have helped the Geyserville show better I now believe.
