Tuesday, July 30, 2013 - Concentrated with a very good balance between acidity and sweetness, But one way or another the wine doesn't strike me as extremely special. It has finesse, but I miss some elegance. Maybe I should have waited until 2020, but I didn't and this was my last bottle so…over and out.

Wise to keep your magnum. Probably best to wait 10 years at least. I am a fan of van Volxem. Visited the domain 2 years ago and Roman is an impressive personality and a great host. I don’t know what it is, but before that note (which dates from 2013) I had a few disappointing bottles from them (and friends thought so as well.) Don’t misunderstand; definitely very good wines, but not what we had hoped for. Anyway, I have a few of this wine of the 2011 vintage and I am looking forward to them, but probably not before 2020.
Cheers, Zweder.
