Tuesday, June 28, 2011 - I wanted to try another bottle of this to see where it was at. The answer for me is not close yet. Dark red purple color. The color just coats the glass and hangs, very rich and concentrated. The nose is black fruits, cassis, blackberry, spice, tobacco. After 2 days, the earth emerges and some licorice. The palate again is concentrated, very drying tannins at this point, oaky, spicy, black fruits and some heat. I did not find this pleasant on day one, and not much better on day 2. By day 3 this was beginning to settle down and come together showing some promise. I am going to let this sit for a good year before revisiting.
