Saturday, March 29, 2014 - An intellectual experience more than a hedonistic one, this nevertheless has managed to keep hold of the guts and terroir you would expect of a Grand Cru. Beefy, soupy with meat, fennel, spices and black cherries. Holding on reasonably well, although the finish lacks the depth of a truly great Grand Cru.

I was semi-tempted by the Vosnee Romanee Malconsort as well....

5/16/2014 5:30:00 AM - I had a taster of the 81 and the bottle that was opened seemed a bit flatter, but with wines that age I guess it comes down to variation. I presume you purchased yours from The Sampler in London?
