This opens up well over an hour or so, a very attractive nose of ripe orchard fruit, it’s not tropical but heading there with traces of ginger and cardamon, plenty of acidity to keep it focussed and a tangy salty finish, really very good indeed. only made in the best vintages and in very small amounts

A bit reticent to start, but with air opens out nicely and becomes a classic Puligny, plenty of structure & extract, rich but kept in focus by the acidity and mineral edge, kept improving over an hour or so, an excellent wine if you can avoid the pox

12/17/2018 1:44:00 AM - Hi kingkanu, I see we have almost 10% of our cellars in common including a certain Aussie Bugundian. Good choice! You're also a keen user of the Wine Society. Me too. Might meet you at MH London tasting.
5/21/2014 11:10:00 AM - Might you have stayed in San Gimignano? I cannot find any record of San Griminano anywhere. Thanks for you informative and detailed notes on your trip to Tuscany.
6/5/2013 6:22:00 AM - thanks for the tip ! i don't think we saw that producer when we visited last month, we'll check that out, there is a site in the UK that specialises in NY state wines although they don't have the greatest selection, it is still handy to get a few things, particularly the cab franc, we liked quite a few of those.
6/4/2013 7:21:00 PM - I tasted a really nice PN from the NY Finger Lake region. Reminded me a lot of Fixin. Cherry Juice, a touch of forest floor and early notes, but super elegant, and needing a bit more time in the cellar. Best PN from the East Coast I have ever had. Maybe like Burg with a splash of Oregon. Ravines Wine Cellars. 1 of 3 vineyards up here that make PN, with average yield low like 30 HL/Hectare. Total of 4-5 acres total for the vineyards.

A taste at the end of the evening, A very herbal rendition of Sangiovese, and quite attractive with it although probably not for everyone
