90 Points

Saturday, July 2, 2011 - Aromas are quite pleasant, if a bit typical of pedestrian Oregon Pinot Noir. But here, the spicy, fruity charred oak aromas are a bit more expressive than usual. This is coupled with a light charcoal, and overall impressive spice and delicious red fruited texture; almost like strawberry fruit extract and chili spice poured in pound cake. But that sweet oak streak runs throughout. The palate is quite large, with decent fruit extract, mild oak and tannins, and acidity barely enough to balance out the fruit. The finish is a little hot, but shows some decent acid spice, tar, and strawberry extract. Grippy fruit. Pleasant, but feels manipulated, and I'm not quite sure what it's trying to express. It still doesn't come together as a complete package, even if it is quite delicious.
