Wednesday, March 23, 2011 - The first assemblage of the 2010 Monte Bello. At the moment it is a very dense, dark purple colour with a vibrant floral nose; aromas of violet, stewed rhubarb, cassis and bay leaves. Although nearly as young as a wine can be, it has a great balance of sweet fruit and solid, but very ripe tannins. There is a touch of sharpness to the fruit at the moment but Eric Baugher believes this will be one of the greatest vintages of Monte Bello ever. A lovely treat to try this.
