95 Points

Tuesday, April 19, 2011 - Dark ruby colour - rim has barely started to turn brick. Nose is mature and exquisite! Fully mature wine at its best, gave me a thrill! Worth the 20years waiting indeed. Deep and penetrating multi-layered aromas constantly changing in the glass. Fruit is fresh cherry, has a lean quality to it, it's not opulent. Sweet spices, ash, autumn leaves, violet, tea leaves, some medicinal notes like iodine in the background and a little bit of mushroom. Nose is in perfect condition and very complex. Palate is also exquisite, tannins are resolved, finish is long and body is quite full but fresh fruit and acidity balance it well. This was a really fine wine which in youth would have only shown a fraction of its quality. Perfect now to drink but can keep for a few more years.
