Does not like this wine:

85 Points

Saturday, October 17, 2020 - Acquired from a retailer 6 years ago who got it from another collector’s cellar. Then stored in my temperature and humidity controlled cellar since. I am usually a huge Viognier fan but this bottle was not to my liking. Perhaps poor storage or something along the way but the was a bit of a mess, Huge sediment and very cloudy. I had decanted it but it was nearly impossible to separate the clear wine with admittedly perhaps too little time for the bottle to stand up and settle. Also there was some effervescence, perhaps indicating a secondary fermentation in bottle? THe nose was quite attractive especially initially with a very pleasant almond/marzipan aroma. It seemed to be both slightly oxidized and slightly reduced, curiously. With air it had a smell of an old copper penny. Palate had some sour peach, almond, pear, crushed white flowers and a sensation of acidity (Tannin) though the acidity was quite low. It did get a little more round with air. Finish was medium long but slightly bitter. I didn’t mark this as flawed as it was actually drinkable and had some nice elements about it but it was more interesting than it was enjoyable.
