I took much better care of this wine compared to the last bottle...letting it stand up and settle with a proper decanting, it was a bright clear medium golden yellow. The nose is fragrant, floral, slightly leesy, and fruity. The acidity is quite bright, there are some slight bitter undertones, but the mid palate had big fruit, pear and fig are notable with some lemony accents. Clean fresh and fairly densely textured. Very interesting wine. Notably it went fantastically with the lobster, fennel risotto I made and topped with shaved fresh white truffle and excellent Apollo Barouni California olive oil. Maybe a better pairing than the 2010 Mount Eden Chard we also had with it. It just exploded with flavor with the fennel and tarragon in the dish.

Acquired from a retailer 6 years ago who got it from another collector’s cellar. Then stored in my temperature and humidity controlled cellar since. I am usually a huge Viognier fan but this bottle was not to my liking. Perhaps poor storage or something along the way but the was a bit of a mess, Huge sediment and very cloudy. I had decanted it but it was nearly impossible to separate the clear wine with admittedly perhaps too little time for the bottle to stand up and settle. Also there was some effervescence, perhaps indicating a secondary fermentation in bottle? THe nose was quite attractive especially initially with a very pleasant almond/marzipan aroma. It seemed to be both slightly oxidized and slightly reduced, curiously. With air it had a smell of an old copper penny. Palate had some sour peach, almond, pear, crushed white flowers and a sensation of acidity (Tannin) though the acidity was quite low. It did get a little more round with air. Finish was medium long but slightly bitter. I didn’t mark this as flawed as it was actually drinkable and had some nice elements about it but it was more interesting than it was enjoyable.

10 years old but this bottle has aged well. Lovely peach, apricot nose. Smooth, buttery in mouth. A nice Condrieu from Yves and now looking forward to opening those newer vintages

Opened by mistake for a Rhone dinner, but not bad. It seemed a bit more like an average white burg in style. No fresh fruit or enticing aromatics at this point, but reasonable acidity and fine with food.

Rich, lots of minerals, end-to-end, impressive but not my style. I would like more fruit and a touch more acidity.
