Thursday, January 24, 2013 - I wasn't sure what this wine was or where it had come from when I found it in the cellar. The label gives very little away in terms of what to expect. So, prepared for a bad wine - to be on the safe side! - I was pleasantly surprised to taste this definitely un-complex but well-balanced wine. I had it with a light lasagne (made with creme fraiche and squash) and it didn't fight anything - well behaved with this food! It also stands up reasonably well on its own, although then the slightly excessive alcohol level is more obvious. It would be better with a point less alcohol; it takes over the taste a little. I actually scored it 78 on my card but then made it up to 81 as it's plainly creeping in to the "good" category! It's good value for the money (having looked up what it costs) as there are a great many ill-balanced clarets at this price.
