Good balance between fruit and acidity, not overly tannic despite strong alcohol, however lacking in complexity. Good value for money- everyday quaffer alongside mediterranean food.

Garnet with purple highlights. Decent legs, not opaque. Nose weak, mostly forest floor. Better in the mouth. Medium body. Plump but rather simple berry fruit profile. Finishes nicely. Good QpR. 4-9-15-7: 85/100.

I wasn't sure what this wine was or where it had come from when I found it in the cellar. The label gives very little away in terms of what to expect. So, prepared for a bad wine - to be on the safe side! - I was pleasantly surprised to taste this definitely un-complex but well-balanced wine. I had it with a light lasagne (made with creme fraiche and squash) and it didn't fight anything - well behaved with this food! It also stands up reasonably well on its own, although then the slightly excessive alcohol level is more obvious. It would be better with a point less alcohol; it takes over the taste a little. I actually scored it 78 on my card but then made it up to 81 as it's plainly creeping in to the "good" category! It's good value for the money (having looked up what it costs) as there are a great many ill-balanced clarets at this price.

Perfectly good, if not wildly exciting, 2009 Bordeaux. Has plenty of soft fruit, a touch of funk, earth and spice and a medium finish. Was better on day two and broke down like an old MG on day three. Certainly held its own for a $10 Bordeaux.

Not particularly noteworthy as a Bordeaux, but as a quaffer for $10 it delivers. Mild nose of cassis and vanilla, medium bodied in the mouth with a decent amount of fruit. Basic but versatile, food friendly wine that I would get more of at this price.

This was the last wine in a 9 wine flight and it was an anti-climax. Some cherries and plum on the nose but a bit of a lightweight and didn't cope well against the sirloin. Balance is good, tannins are pretty smooth but where's the fruit and the body? Despite its youth, this won't get much better, if you own it, drink up.

I hope something was off with this bottle as it was nothing remotely similar to the other notes here- smells of pure ethanol with a hint of dark fruit compote, the palate is a disjointed alcoholic mess with a bit of fruit followed by turpentine followed by herbs with an off finish. No matter how good the vintage is it's possible to make poor wine.

Tasted at Oneo - Cirencester. Quite light in the glass. Primary red and black fruits with a little chocolate on the nose. Very light bodied. Fruity palate with a hint of spice. Short length. Nice on its own though wonder if it is robust enough to cope with the strong flavours of lamb / beef.

Nice rich cherry fruit with some peppery spice that develops on the midpalate. The slightest hint of wintergreen, and a medium finish. Very enjoyable, and a steal at the price.

What a brilliant wine for the price, God love the Opimian Society! This is a ready to drink Bordeaux that gives you a taste of the good life. Nice nose of cherries and spice followed by dense cherry flavors with lip-smacking spice on the palate. Loved the hints of chocolate and sily tannins on this wine. Finish was nice also. SO GLAD I have five bottles left. This is a definite re-order next year!

A very thin Bordeaux but for the price $10.00, would purchase again. cassis on the nose. We had it with a red meat pasta meal.

There's good fruit on the nose and some dusty oak. A good, easy drinking claret. Nothing special.

Nose:
Currant and red fruits
Palate:
Red fruits, a little woodsy/herbal, a bit hot, decent finish. Most like currant, lots of currant (even the acid of it).

An exceptional, relatively inexpensive, bordeaux that totally flies under the radar. If you can get your hands on some of this...grab it!

Black pepper, sweet vanilla. Nice rich mouthfeel with a moderately long palate.Great value. Has some short to mid term aging potential.
