Wednesday, February 7, 2007 - At River Cafe, Brooklyn with rack of lamb and duck breast. Lovely deep ruby color. Opened and poured vigorously. Very tight at first but developed beautifully during the evening. The nose began to fill the glass as soon as it was poured and had a wonderful earthy, peppery note. Very well-balanced though not quite as big fruit as some other years and a strong finish. An excellent complement to the duck and perhaps a tad strong for the duck.
