Friday, December 21, 2007 - Decanted and drank over four hours. In the beginning, an onslaught of oak on the nose, but that settled down after a couple of hours. The nose reminds me of a fancy Starbucks coffee, with vanilla and mocha aromas followed by a touch of smoke and earth. Fig and zesty dark berry flavors join in on the palate. Very lucious and creamy mouthfeel to this wine. Firm tannins, but don't know how much of it is from the fruit or the oak. A little more oak than I prefer but its still a stunner. Guaranteed to please the New World crowd.
