Sunday, June 28, 2020 - The Grand Crus of Chambertin with Jasper Morris MW (Zoom!): Tannins much different to straight Charmes - it's slightly cooler than its neighbour, as there's a col (that also cools Latricieres above), so the wines tend to be crunchier. This wine made from 50% whole bunch, and really old vines (1901).
Very dark colour, and lots of power, with spice and dark flavours like chocolate, but there's still lift and freshness. Tannins are in a lovely spot, just coating the mouth with a lovely sandy feel. Nice length. Slightly too rich and spicy for me (probably the vintage influence), but Group WOTN. Probably lovely with food.
