88 Points

Saturday, August 1, 2009 - Popped and aerated in the glass for an hour before dinner. Darker ruby color. Nose of cinnamon, licorice, walnuts, blackberry. Black fruits and minerals on the palate, with some complexity and nuance, but the influence of oak was strong and in my mind excessive. Acidity was moderate and refreshing, tannins still strong, finish moderate. Very interesting wine, but would wait on further bottles to moderate the oak, if that is possible.
