Saturday, June 3, 2017 - Based on the 2013 vintage with 40% of 2012.

Pale lemon color with a hint of greenish hue. Elegant and attractive nose with aromas of green apples, some sweet autolytic toast, a little bit of ripe red apple and apple peel, a hint of citrus fruits and a touch of oven-fresh brioche. Bright and acid-driven on the palate with very dry flavors of lemon-driven citrus fruits, slightly bitter apple peel and chalky minerality, some yeasty French bread and a touch of ripe fruit richness. Very fine, smooth and persistent mousse. The finish is long and mouth-cleansing with bright flavors of chalky minerality, citrus fruits, green apples, some bready autolysis and a hint of mealy red apple.

An elegant and fresh NV Champagne with lovely understated complexity. Still very youthful and thus quite straightforward; I can imagine the wine will gain more complexity and toasty richness if cellared for a year or two - although I can imagine the wine will develop much longer, if necessary. A great bubbly to raise a toast with, but also shows good structure, so there'll be no problems if paired with lighter dishes. If you happen to have a bottle based on the same vintages, I'd wait a few years before popping it open.
