Friday, March 2, 2007 - My first Giacosa. Not entirely disappointing, but not mind-blowing. I must say that the wine improved greatly on day #2. Nice ruby with a hint of brown, darkened with time in the glass. Nice leathery aromatics intertwined small hints of cherry pipe-tobacco. Medium rich in the mouth. Didn't get many pinpoint flavors here to be honest. The finish is long, tannins are still evident. Not a whole lot of acidity left and thus the wine lacked a sense of freshness.
