Sunday, December 21, 2008 - After being decanted nearly an hour still closed. But then... after nearly two hours this wine opens up and shows its worth. You smell delicate raisin, some rose-scent, red wood. Beautiful, hard to believe this is just an "ordinary" Barbaresco-"villages"! Super, it just keeps on opening up. Bruno Giacosa is definitely one of the best wine-makers of Italy. Two days ago I had its peer from Gaja: completely different, much friendlier, but this wine has a class that is hard to corner, but is very much sophisticated indeed. Lovely.
