Saturday, April 11, 2015 - Needless to say, this Napa merlot is mature and tastes aged, but it isn’t over the hill although I wouldn’t age it any further.
Cooked cherries, cedar, sweet balsamic vinegar, and rusty nails emerge from the glass. With aeration, rusty nail component becomes more pronounced, perhaps a bit too much.
If you’d like to experience an old wine without getting a loan, this may be worth a try. You'd need a special corkscrew to pull out the cork in one piece. It was $20 at K&L.
