Sunday, August 10, 2014 - The quality of this Pinot from Carneros surprised us. I had to double check the bottle to see if it was really a Carneros wine. I would put this up against some fine Russian River Pinots. Obviously its time in the cellar has done it well. While fruit was still present, raspberry and bing cherry, it was far from a fruit bomb. Nice structure, round and balanced, it had a great long finish. This wine is drinking wonderfully right now so it would be a great time to start drinking! It might still continue to improve somewhat but I wouldn't bet that you would really see much more improvement.
