Tuesday, June 21, 2011 - Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon blend. A supposed recreation of Penfold’s legendary 1976 vintage employing reserved grapes that don’t typically enter the Koonunga Hill label. Dark ruby color. Blackberry and pepper aromas. Medium-bodied palate, again blackberry and pepper flavors dominate. Medium length finish. Somewhat one-dimensional overall. A bit disappointing – this one definitely falls a bit short of the Garagiste buildup though it’s still perfectly fine for everyday drinking.
