Friday, November 25, 2005 - wednesday evening after the initial carping about insignia getting WS WOTY, i took a (bonus #2!) 97 insignia over to a friends house. paired beautifully with a take home pizza, not decanted. this was a remarkable california cab. i happen to think that drinking these wines with 7-10 years of aging is optimal, and this was a poster child for that way of thinking. straight up fabulous. ultra silky mouthfeel and totally integrated tannin. i thought the petite verdot component was the key to it's showing, providing that little added kick to the usual cab/ merlot combination. if the 02 develops like this vintage did, purchasers will be awfully happy.
