Friday, March 21, 2014 - Perfect bottle.

Carmine red, pretty dark and young.

Good nose. Plum, cherry, oak, meat, graphite, cigarr box and spices.

Surprisingly good on the palate. Good grip, not too sweet, nice acidity, firm tannins. At first I thought the sommelier at Clarion pulled my leg and poured me a glass of Gigondas (I told the sommelier to bring a bottle of wine he thought should match my dish) ... but this Campolieti performs very well and is more french than italian. Sweet, firm tannins that doesn't dry out.
Nice finish, quite long too.
This is actually a good wine.

87-88 points.
