90 Points

Saturday, June 14, 2014 - Big stinky nose on opening with a pronounced dose of barnyard & compost which blows off thankfully. I think this is still early on as evidenced by the dry grippy tannins which did smooth over more with air. There is lovely depth of color and a very present ferrous, bloody note which adds minerality to the under ripe blackberries and plums. There is still an animal note which lingers on palate after the wine has gone but certainly did not bother me as it feels in tune with the character of this excellent value Chinon.
