Sunday, March 3, 2019 - From a pristine bottle; the fill was into the neck and the cork was sound. Slow ox for an hour, then consumed over the course of the evening. A dark ruby core with some garnet at the rim. A classic bouquet, offering up notes of ripe red fruits, sois bous, earth, and roasted game bird, with hints of black truffle. Medium bodied, with great focus, depth, and grip; an alluring savory element on the mid palate, and a long a classic finish. A wonderful wine that nicely complemented the duck breast; this is not a “tasting” wine, but a classic Bordeaux that needs to be enjoyed over a meal. I thought this performed slightly better than the 94 Pontet Canet that we had earlier in the week.
