Friday, January 28, 2022 - Let me start out by saying I enjoyed this wine - it was plush. It had elements of blackberry liquor and cherry tincture but arguably to the point of warmth. I enjoyed the bacon fat, salted licorice and camp fire like smokey oak aromatics - likewise, the unctuous earthy palate, lengthy finish and suave tannins yet the combined effect was borderline new world. Perhaps time will tame this but I was looking for a little more funk and compensatory tapenade like minerality to ground me in the terroir. This wine is sensual and broad shouldered but arguably over ripe. Appreciative with mixed feelings.
