Wednesday, April 13, 2022 - This wine remains a singular experience - and at 12 years, still fresh and appealing. Nose a mix of floral notes of rose, crunchy cranberry, some strawberry, and a hint of cherry, with tons of stony minerality. Palate more crunchy fruit and mineral driven. Holy cats, this is one serious wine. No hurry to drink this. The acid and refreshing structure and lack of any heaviness or overripeness surprises from a fairly warm region. The complexity is remarkable at the $. If you prefer big oaky, fruity, high alcohol California Zin or Cab, this is decidedly not your bottle.
