Friday, September 21, 2012 - My impressions of this wine mirror some of the more recent tasters. The nose is high on pepper with a follow through of cedar and baking spice. There is an oxidative note creeping in... but perhaps this is just the bottle I had. On the mouth the fruit is still big and fresh, the acidity present and the tannins completely intergrated. Crunchy black and red berry fruit with just the slightest funky leather in the back. Again the mouth shows the slightest oxidation, and I think this wine is at the end of it's "very good years", and will hold through few less-than-perfect years still. Intense and long, complex on the nose but simpler in the mouth. Still very good for 11 years on.
