90 Points

Saturday, May 29, 2021 - These damned things show extreme bottle variation and/or multiple peaks and valleys (dumb phases). This one was somewhere in between - not bad, but my socks are still on. Earthiness on the nose overshadowed the fruit. Better balance on the palate, but still earthier than I prefer. The fruit was almost exclusively red cherries, but it was somewhat subdued. Nice rich texture and a solid finish. Still reasonably tannic, so it may have a few years left, unless the fruit disappears altogether. Unless it's next week, I'm guessing my next bottle will either be a religious experience or DOA.
