Friday, June 8, 2018 - Very youthful dark purple still with just a hint of garnet out at the rim. Super clean nose of figs, dark fruits, minerals and a hint of tar. Only medium weight but no lack of concentration and delicious dark fruit flavours. On the drier side of the port spectrum (which suits me) and with a bit of raw spirit poking out on the finish really the only blemish. This is a delicious and thoroughly enjoyable glass of wine. Drinking very well now but clearly not about to roll over yet either. Fabulous value at £23 per bottle from Goedhuis.
I am drinking more port these days and am finding some really good value in these single quintas. Back label says that only one quarter of the estate's total port production in 1999 made it into the grand vin.
