Wednesday, March 26, 2014 - From half-bottle. I poured the wine into a small decanter and had the first glass immediately. The wine was medium ruby in colour and offered red fruit, raspberry, strawberry, pomegranate, blood, iron, underbrush, spices and a hint of fresh herbs on the nose. On the palate the wine showed red fruit, cherry, raspberry, strawberry, blood and spices, paired with medium-level acidity, prominent medium-level tannin and good length of the slightly bitter and somewhat sharp finish. The fresh, medium-bodied wine showed the ripeness of the vintage without being jammy. An enjoyable, reasonably balanced Santenay with moderate depth and concentration for mid-week drinking. The wine drank best immediately after opening and slowly declined over time. 87+
