Wednesday, January 27, 2016 - Only allowed to breathe for a few minutes before tasting. An hour later, it was still evolving (and improving). Blueberries and a hint of pears (?) on the nose. Same on the palate, along with a little charcoal. Fairly viscous and full-bodied. Humongous fruit on the palate and in the lengthy finish. No one would ever confuse this with a Syrah from the Rhone, and food pairings are tricky. I suspect it would go well with meat dishes that include fruit sauces.
