Saturday, April 30, 2016 - Really enjoyed this Sonoma Valley syrah from an under-rated producer at a recent wine dinner with good wine friends - kindly brought by good vino friend and fellow CT'er Bill Woratchek. A good QPR wine at this price point. Given a short decant and this wine could definitely stand at least a 60-90 minute decant. Sweet intense dark nose, medium bodied, good mouth feel, decent aftertaste, well balanced, softening and silky but still very present tannins and I anticipate at least another 3-5 years if cellared appropriately. This paired excellently with duck & lamb. Primary flavors included dark fruit and blackberry up front with more earthy flavors of mushrooms, game and smoke on the mid- and late palate. Definitely recommend this wine.
