flawed

Saturday, February 21, 2009 - Light, almost mature Pinot color with light, tawny edges. This did deepen a bit. Just dreadful nose of pure, stinky brett for the first hour and a half which pushed me right to the brink of dumping this down the drain. The wine struggled mightily to show some dark cherry and menthol, but it could not overcome the brett, which gave a tarry, muddy, drying finish and stripped away the fruit. I am not in the "any brett is bad" camp (see my last note on this wine), but this exceeded my tolerance by a mile. Modern, squeaky clean style? Um, not exactly.
