90 Points

Wednesday, October 9, 2013 - Flight 1, Rhône, Wine 5 (blind): The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered an expressive nose of blackberry, cherry, plum, strawberry, dried fruits and elder. On the palate the wine showed blackberry, cherry, ripe strawberry, dried fruits, some leather, spices, pepper and clove, paired with medium-level acidity, medium-plus ripe tannin and very good length. A medium- to full-bodied, modern-style, fruit-driven, delicious Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wine can be consumed now, but showed potential to improve with mid-term cellaring. Drink or hold. 90+ for the time being.
