Very little evolution, just the brink, as this is still very opaque. Expressive, mature, ripe, cherry liquor, some brett or aromatic herbs, cherry coke and overall plenty of ripe fruit. Mid to full bodied, still to resolve some tannins. 15 avg alcohol, but not really hot, drink without food at your own risk.

1 & 1/2 hour decant. Vibrant nose of rich, dark fruit. Nice up front, but has a harsh aftertaste. Seemed to soften at the end, but I’m thinking this wine has come to an untimely end. One left - I’ll decant it for about 4 hours to see if there’s any improvement.

This was OK. Well balanced and holding up really well. However, it was missing vibrancy and anything that might indicate what it is and where it's from. It was frankly a little flat. A decent wine with no obvious flaws, but nothing to save for a special occasion.

Consumed over three nights. I had a glass Friday and found it to be too big and hot for me. Had a sip on Sunday and it was unchanged. My wife enjoyed it.

I have really moved away from drinking CDP; in fact, this is the first bottle I’ve had in 2+ years, as so many have become outsized and overripe. However, this wine was excellent. It’s right at the point in its maturity where I tend to enjoy them - still showing juicy red fruit and some garrigue notes, but the tannins have smoothed out and there’s not a ton of tertiary development yet. This is a cleanly made wine - which, in my experience, is sadly not a given with CDPs. I wish I had a couple more.

Consumed at the end of a wine-soaked party, so no coherent notes. PnP. Youthful and rich. Not obviously a CdP - no minerals, garrigue, etc. Plenty of structure, but very well balanced. A keeper.

Very dark wine. Hardly any red highlights considering its age. Nose and flavor are shockingly young in profile. Tasted blind, some of our group guessed petite sirah and I can see it. Dark chocolate and raspberry or cherry. Roasted notes. Chalky tannins linger. Definitely a long way to go for this wine.

Classic but not the most generous CdP. Not sure if this will open with more time, or the structure will win over the fruit. I have two more bottles to find out....

There is certainly a lot of everything here including some raisin tones. What is lacking is balance as the wine suffers from low acidity. This leaves one with a heavy feeling and the last glass was not the best. I hope my other bottles will be better but it seems unlikely.

Based on earlier reviews this may just now be coming into form. Lots of cherry, licorice and fig. Certainly this is a bold CnDP and another 5 years may tame it further. But this is a terrific drop for the patient.

All in all a little Chaupin / Cuvee de mon Aieul. All about fruit (nose and palate). No vanilla flavours at all.
Due to its astringency I guess this one needs two more years and might be able to keep the drinking window open for 10 more years. Good qpr (32€) and textbook Chateauneuf.
As another tasting note mentioned, this wine did not improve on day 2.
Quite some sediment. Make sure to decant.

Dense cedar and tobacco nose...dark fruit, cedar, garrigue, tannic. In a general sense its big, rich, and structured. This is fairly closed down, but it's still a pleasant drink if you can handle the intensely young aspects.

Flight 1, Rhône, Wine 5 (blind): The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered an expressive nose of blackberry, cherry, plum, strawberry, dried fruits and elder. On the palate the wine showed blackberry, cherry, ripe strawberry, dried fruits, some leather, spices, pepper and clove, paired with medium-level acidity, medium-plus ripe tannin and very good length. A medium- to full-bodied, modern-style, fruit-driven, delicious Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wine can be consumed now, but showed potential to improve with mid-term cellaring. Drink or hold. 90+ for the time being.

Strong very intense aroma that gains from airing. Lots of herbs and plum and very full bodied. Might be a bit in the tunnel right now, check back in two years.

I do not know where I’ve been for the past few years, because I was not aware of the level of wine coming from Domaine Giraud. Consulted by Philippe Cambie, this is one of the hottest new estates in Chateauneuf du Pape. Not only is this absolutely delicious, it sells for more than a fair price for a wine of this quality. Packed with sweet fresh, jammy berries, cherry liqueur, gariggue and peppery, black raspberries, this beauty is already delivering the goods.

Showing even better than previous bottle, tannins have soften quite a bit over the last few months. Good nose with long finish. No hint of heat and very good balance overall. Delicious. Right up there with 2010 Barroche CDP, maybe even better because this wine definitely has better structure. 94-95 pts

Blend of Grenache (60%), Syrah (35%), and Mourvedre (5%). Subtle nose due to its high percentage of Syrah, not as floral. Notes of prune, cherry liqueur, fruit cake, licorice and raspberry. Dark purple in color and dense. Sweet and slightly sour on entry with long and slightly dry aftertaste, still noticeable tannins. Fresh acidity level. Label indicated 15% with slight heat at the end. This is a very big wine for a straight CDP, full bodied with good structure and length, clearly built to age. Not ready yet, need times. A wine to go with char grill steak. Smoother and more floral on 2nd day, up the score. 91-94 pts.

One hour decant. Barely drinkable. Doesn't seem technically flawed but has a very unpleasant finish. Tried again on Day 2, with worse results.
