Sunday, December 19, 2010 - Boerne Wine Club - Tuscany (Scenic Loop Cafe, San Antonio, TX): Complex terrific nose with blackberries, licorice, currants, and espresso, with a floral component. Round full palate, with enough acidity to pull things together. Has a a much darker fruit profile than the other wines, with black cherry and plum notes leading, with coffee and toast on the back end. Finished with toast and coffee character on a lengthy finish. Looking at the bottle, the 30% merlot component really fleshes this out as it is rather lush and ripe. Drinking great now, not sure it’ll get better.
