Wednesday, June 27, 2012 - Greenish pale color, small bubbles. Smells of summer! Beatifully restrained citrus fruit, Chablisesque crushed rock minerality, apricot and even a hint of burnt sugar. Extremely fresh and clean nose really. The palate? I would really just like to say that it is remarkably vivid, balanced and enjoyable and then stop there. High concentration is backed up by steely acidity and together they add up something extremely drinkable. Citrus, stone fruit and plenty of minerality. The flavor profile kinda hints that this was made from some pretty ripe grapes but even then this is in no way heavy. Went extremely well with breaded flatfish. There's just something about Riesling that was fermented and aged in oak that is really hard to define. Alive, that's what I think it feels like.
