  • 13% alcohol. Tasted half blind.

Pale lemon yellow color with subtly whitish-green highlights. The nose feels clean, crisp and at first very slightly reductive with a slightly flatulent note that blows off, revealing aromas of steely minerality, some lemon zest, a little bit of stone minerality, a hint of wool and a touch of Granny Smith apple. Overall the nose never really opens up, but remains slightly closed and underwhelming. The wine is clean, crisp and playful on the palate with medium body and somewhat lean flavors of tart lemony citrus fruits, some gaseous reductive notes, a little bit of developed honeyed richness, light saline tones, a hint of ripe key lime and a floral touch of apple blossom. The bracing acidity keeps the wine very fresh and precise. The finish is clean, lively and playful with long, crisp and quite mouth-puckering flavors of tart key lime, steely minerality, some pithy lemon, a little bit of reductive gunpowder smoke, light apple peel bitterness and a hint of white flowers.

A very tasty, crisp and mouth-cleansing Riesling with very focused and precise overall feel. The even after some time in a decanter, the wine came across as slightly reductive, which is suggesting that this bottle was just opened way too early. It's no surprise that the German Rieslings from the 2010 vintage are often built to age, but this is not only structured like one, but also quite protected from oxidation with its reductive tones. Overall I enjoyed the crisp, linear and precise style here, but I would've enjoyed it even more had the wine been slightly more open now. Nevertheless, good value at 24,90€. No point opening these within the next 10 years. Let them just wait.

  • Abundant ripe yellow peach, a spoonful of honey and a few drops of motor oil. A hint of sweetness on the tip of your tongue, and rich flavours balanced by ripe yet firm acidity and lively sensations of minerality. Outstanding stuff from a great vintage in Pfalz. Probably best now and fairly soon, before the peachy aromas get too canned.

  • Nice, pleasant floral nose. Good riesling-acidity, being in very good balance with the fruit. A high-class German Riesling.

  • A nose of peachy fruit, beeswax, sweet lemon and flowers.
Dry and pretty fullbodied palatal feel with some obvious sweetness and well-integrated acidity bringing the wine together rather nicely. Waffle-like with some citrusy bitterness and honeyed florality. Mineral notes towards the long fruity finish.
Good balance here - many B-Ws have felt a bit flabby lately (esp. from the warmer vintages), but this one doesn't. Very pure and lovely. Drinking already.

  • Greenish pale color, small bubbles. Smells of summer! Beatifully restrained citrus fruit, Chablisesque crushed rock minerality, apricot and even a hint of burnt sugar. Extremely fresh and clean nose really. The palate? I would really just like to say that it is remarkably vivid, balanced and enjoyable and then stop there. High concentration is backed up by steely acidity and together they add up something extremely drinkable. Citrus, stone fruit and plenty of minerality. The flavor profile kinda hints that this was made from some pretty ripe grapes but even then this is in no way heavy. Went extremely well with breaded flatfish. There's just something about Riesling that was fermented and aged in oak that is really hard to define. Alive, that's what I think it feels like.
