Friday, July 28, 2006 - Doug's 60th Birthday Party; 7/28/2006-8/9/2006 (Civita Castellana, Palazzo Doug & Jeanette): Clear, mature looking in spite of its youth. Nose: mineral, earth, no fruit. Palate: long, persistent and sapid; earthy and oaky but fruit-less; moderate in alcohol, acidity, tannins. Seems reasonably well balanced. I am not confident in judging this one's aging potential, but it isn't so great right now. The same wine, a few weeks earlier, was much better.
