Tuesday, May 26, 2015 - This wine has a bright medium-red corundum color. Its bouquet is very complex: ripe cherry, strawberry and damson plum compote laced with scents of game, smoke, sous bois, roasted herbs and blue flowers. The aromas are so rich and layered that it is tough pulling your nose from the glass. Medium-bodied and then some, there is considerable density and dry extract. This is followed by concentrated yet bright flavors of cherry, redcurrant gravy, anise, soil and mineral. These fresh flavors are awash with a saline-infused, lip-smacking acidity which remains intact through the long finish. And the big tannins are remarkably smooth and tamed. This is the perfect expression of pinot ripeness, power and balance. Fully deserving of its score, this is the loveliest, most complete young red Burgundy I have tasted recently. 96+ points.
