Monday, July 13, 2015 - I occasionally run across a Rioja that makes me wonder why I don't have cases of them in my cellar. This is one such. A vivid wine that demands attention. Everything about it is snappy and alive. A bright red fruit nose with a bit of menthol and vanilla. In the mouth, bright acidity, fine tannins, mature tart cherry. A long, long finish carried by snappy red fruit and acidity, finally disappearing like the Cheshire cat - leaving only the grin. It plainly has a long life ahead of it but will be extremely difficult to lay off since it is so compelling now.
