Saturday, August 1, 2009 - Had the '07 Dr. Loosen's Blue Slate Riesling yesterday, so this was a chance opportunity to compare a different Loosen for about 8 bucks less while our memory was fresh. Light yellow in color of medium-light intensity. Mild nose of granny smith apple, citrus and spice. Approaching an off-dry entry with fresh tangy citrus and gentle minerality. Overall, although it does not show the intensity of fruit or minerals as the Blue Slate, it is still surprisingly good for 9 dollars. Depending on what it's being paired with (e.g., Thai drunken noodles or Massaman curry), I would buy this again.
