Palate is on the full side, with a big front, thinning in the middle and there is some bitterness on the finish. After ten minutes, the palate fills out more and the fullness, assisted by the 12.5% alcohol, extends along the entire length of the palate. The mouth has much more to offer than the nose and, while this bottle has its moments, it doesn't possess the thrilling qualities of the 1997 version, last had in 11.2022. This bottle of CFE 2000 comes close to being very good plus and suggests the wine is likely at plateau.
