Monday, May 11, 2015 - AP #04-06 (late release) again, and another stunner of a Spätlese. A bit tight and unyielding at first, but slowly unravels with air to reveal layers of incredibly fresh citrus and green apple fruit tinged with smoke, flowers, slate, and a faint whiff of sulfur that lingers for a while. Z's descriptor of crystal pure nails it - there's such incredible purity and transparency to the flavours here, with gentle sweetness and an incredible sense of lightness. Incredible wine, and I'm glad I went long on this.
