Sunday, January 3, 2016 - This wine is a powerhouse, but with balance. Deep dark ruby with purple hues. The nose is pronounced, with blackberry, black currant and a little bit of new oak induced chocolate, espresso and sweet baking spice. The palate is dry, but with some RS despite the 14.8% alcohol. The acidity and tannins are medium and the alcohol does not seem as high as the abv number would indicate. The mouthfeel is rich and creamy, with a long finish. It paired very well with some good, peppery Texas Hill Country BBQ. It is drinking well now but could easily go a couple of more years. Definitely worth looking for, this really reminds me of the Rosenblums of old.
