Sunday, December 15, 2013 - Finishing my WOTY march through the short list, opened one of these tonight. My son in law and I finished off about 2/3rds and I saved a good size glass for tomorrow, where I will do a final weigh in. This shows very well on Day 1, offering black cherry, raspberry, truffle and some mineral. Terrific balance, too. Tomorrow is the finishing glass but putting that aside, this is a great bottle of CA pinot....with about a day of air, this picks up some plum flesh/skin, showing the same raspberry and mineral tones as yesterday, with some conifer/pine notes on the aromatic. The finish has a soily, shroomy character and really I'd want to drink this all day, man. WOTY? Ah, so close. I'll have to finish my WOTY finalist list over the next 2 weeks, which really only has a couple left to go, and it just might take it, for sure in my Top 3 for 2013. Really delicious, reminding me a little of the 2011 Anthill Campbell Ranch. This wine should age and sing for many more years--just fantastic.
