Sunday, August 19, 2012 - Yes, it's simply infanticide to drink this wine right now, but if you must open up a bottle now, make sure to match it against a good beef bbq or smoked steak. The good news is that after about four hours of air it starts to relax somewhat....
Rich dark cherries, milk chocolate and pleasant enough vanilla from the oak persist. And the finish is quite long and engaging. If you can wait another year before you pop a bottle, I think you'll be quite rewarded for doing so. This is a borderline "outstanding" score right now, but it should climb a few points, and more importantly, the wine will develop some nice secondary characteristcs with time. I'm looking forward to revisiting once the current tannin attack has dissipated.
